Immaculate Conception History

How many generations of your family have attended IC Church and School? We are looking to you, the members of our parish and school community, to help us create a recorded history of our parish and school. Our goal is to compile a complete history to be published in a book and/or video to celebrate the upcoming 75th Anniversary of ICS in 2014.

Our current inventory includes; principal's albums dating from 1973 to 2006, a tape of ICS 50th Anniversary celebration, the book commemorating the 50th (Golden) Anniversary of the parish (1923-1973), buttons and ribbons from graduates of IC School, and a letter from Archbishop John Murray, dated 1955, congratulating the parish on the undertaking of building the 'new' church (pictured below).

We even have the original Record of Minutes dating back to January 1924. This only scratches the surface, we need more! If you can help, please email us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.  or call the Parish Office at (763) 788-9062.

Our Mission
We are the Church of the Immaculate Conception, an evolving and vital Roman catholic community with a rich history of more than seven
decades of ministry in the Columbia Heights area. Our Mission is to become Church by proclaiming and celebrating our Lord and Savior,
Jesus Christ. We fulfill our Mission, by the grace of God, by responding to God's call to grow spiritually, to open our hearts in welcome,
and to invite participation in our worship, fellowship, education, and service ministries at every phase of our faith journey.
